Rufus Edmisten has concentrated his corporate advocacy work and civil litigation in recent years in the flourishing technology sector. While Edmisten remains an effective lobbying agent for any business, he possesses particular experience in integrating information technology with the needs of all levels of government.

Working with prominent high-tech firms such as Hewlett Packard, Oracle, and BearingPoint has been his most recent experience, though throughout his career he has worked with technology, including:

1974 - 1984
As North Carolina Attorney General, Edmisten was instrumental in launching the NC Criminal Justice Information Network

1989 - 1996
As North Carolina Secretary of State he served as a member and chair of the NC Information Resources Management Commission (NCIRMC)

1999 - 2000
In 1999 Edmisten was appointed to the state's Joint Select Committee on Information Technology. This committee is mandated to set state policy on information technology in the coming decades

2002 - 2004
NC Senate President Pro Tempore Marc Basnight re-appointed Edmisten to the Information Resource Management Commission. More information is available at www.ncirmc.gov
